Ryan Chiropractic Clinic, P.A. at Smoky Hill Chiropractic offers traditional chiropractic adjusting as well as other innovative techniques to care for patient needs.
Chiropractic Adjusting Techniques
Diversified, Gonstead, Activator, Impulse, Thompson, and Extremity adjusting.
Services provided at our location:
Non Surgical Cervical and Lumbar Spinal Decompression
Spinal decompression is a type of traction therapy applied to the spine in an attempt to bring about several benefits including: creating a negative intradiscal pressure to promote retraction or repositioning of the herniated or bulging disc material. Over the course of several treatments repositioning of these discs may allow the injured tissue to heal naturally.
Dry Needling Treatments
Dr. Ryan is certified in dry needling by the AAMT the worldwide leader in dry needling education, research and clinical practice. Dry needling is a treatment used for pain and movement issues associated with myofascial trigger points. The needles stimulate your muscles, which causes them to twitch. This helps relieve pain and improve your range of motion.
Trigger Point therapy
The use of pressure over tender muscular points to release tight fibers and help treat muscular pain that may not respond to other therapies.
Electric Muscle Stimulation
Electric muscle stimulation uses light electrical stimulation transmitted through several sticky pads that are place on the skin over injured or weak muscles. Generally 15 to 20 minute treatment times are used to increase muscle strength and increase blood flow to the injured area to help promote healing.
Therapeutic Ultrasound
Ultrasound machines are a therapy used by a doctor of chiropractic that utilize high or low frequency sound waves. These sound waves are transmitted to the surrounding tissue and blood vessels. They penetrate the muscles to cause deep tissue/muscle warming. This promotes tissue relaxation and therefore is useful in treating muscle tightness and spasms. The warming effect of the sound waves also cause vessel vasodilatation and increase circulation to the area that assists in healing. The doctor can also adjust the frequency on the machine to use waves that will decrease inflammation.
Kinesiotape
According to the Kinesio Taping Method website the Kinesio Taping® Method is a definitive rehabilitative taping technique that is designed to facilitate the body’s natural healing process while providing support and stability to muscles and joints without restricting the body’s range of motion as well as providing extended soft tissue manipulation to prolong the benefits of manual therapy administered within the clinical setting. Latex-free and wearable for days at a time, Kinesio® Tex Tape is safe for populations ranging from pediatric to geriatric, and successfully treats a variety of orthopedic, neuromuscular, neurological and other medical conditions. The Kinesio® Taping Method is a therapeutic taping technique not only offering your patient the support they are looking for, but also rehabilitating the affected condition as well. By targeting different receptors within the somatosensory system, Kinesio® Tex Tape alleviates pain and facilitates lymphatic drainage by microscopically lifting the skin. This lifting affect forms convolutions in the skin thus increasing interstitial space and allowing for a decrease in inflammation of the affected areas.
Intersegmental Traction (Roller Table)
Roller tables offer patients a combination of a relaxing rolling massage with vibration. The therapy helps relax tight sore muscles and helps increase mobility of the spinal joints. Roller table therapy can be used before or after a chiropractic adjustment to help accelerate improvement.
Moist Heat therapy (Hydrocollator)
Moist heat is provided by soaking large heating pads in hot water. The pads are wrapped in towels and placed on the painful regions of the body to decrease pain and increase circulation to the area.
